Brushing and flossing are the best ways to help prevent cavities, but it’s not always easy to clean every nook and cranny of your teeth – especially those back teeth. Sealants, also referred to as dental sealants, consist of a plastic material that can be placed on the chewing (occlusal) surface of the permanent back teeth, the molars, and premolars. They have been shown to reduce the risk of decay by nearly 80% in molars.

First, the tooth surface is thoroughly cleaned. Next, the tooth is washed with water and dried. An acidic solution is then placed on the fissured area of the tooth’s chewing surface and left briefly before being rinsed off. This creates a rough surface to which the sealant can bond. Then the tooth is dried again.

Once sealant material is carefully painted onto the enamel surface to cover the deep grooves or depressions, a special blue light is used to harden the sealants.

Sealants will often last for several years before they need to be reapplied. During your regular dental visit, your dentist will check the condition of the sealant and can reapply them as needed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”25″][vc_single_image image=”2619″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” bg_type=”bg_color” bg_color_value=”#dbdbdb”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” bg_type=”bg_color” bg_color_value=”#c60101″][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Make your dream smile a reality!” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1501205997649{padding-top: -35px !important;padding-bottom: -40px !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”Call or book your appointment today” font_container=”tag:p|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1501205964934{margin-top: -10px !important;padding-top: -40px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Book Appointment” color=”white” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2F162.144.178.229%2F~boyettfa%2Fappointments%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
